                                    Meet Isatu

In Sierra Leone, poverty continues to be the biggest barrier to accessing education. Girls continue to drop out of school at a higher rate due to the intersection of poverty and gender discrimination.

Street Child are working with teen mothers in Sierra Leone to ensure they remain safe, in school and learning this year.

Meet Celia

Before Street Child came to her community in rural Liberia, Celia had to travel 6km on foot to get to school. It was difficult to balance her morning chores with the long distance, so she was often late or absent.

Working together with our local partners, Street Child built a school closer to the community. Now it's less than 1km from her home. She no longer misses class, and is working hard to become a banker one day. There are many barriers for why children like Celia may not access the education they deserve—like distance in rural and remote areas of the world.
